4 Days Nyanza Tour

Kit Mikayi: Is a large tor/rock with three boulders on top, located off the Kisumu-Bondo road. Kit Mikayi means “Stones of the first wife” or “First Wife Rocks” in the local Luo language.

Kisumu museum buildings are set to look like a Luo homestead, replicating the culture of the area with the museums main gallery facing the entrance just like a typical Luo homestead. Museum showcase the luo culture.

Ruma National Park is the largest national park in Western Kenya and you can see a variety of wildlife here including the Big Five and the rare Roan antelope.

Mount Homa or Homa Hills is a mountain located in Homabay County, Western Kenya. It forms a broad peninsula on the southern shore of Winam Gulf, an extension of Lake Victoria, which defines Homabay and the mountaintop. The hills also host spectacular hot springs.

Kanjera Pre-Historic Site: The site of Kanjera occurs on the Homa Peninsula of western Kenya. It’s located in the beautiful rural countryside, surrounded by eroded volcanic edifices, on the southern shore of the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria.

Mfangano Island is known for its ancient rock art, possibly 2,000 years old and thought to have been created by early forager-hunters, the Twa people.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Meet at 7am in Kisumu. Kisumu Day tour: Includes a morning visit to Kit Mikayi and afternoon visit Kisumu Museum. Evening travel to Homabay. Dinner and accommodation at 3-star hotel in Homabay.

Day 2: Breakfast at Hotel. Homabay Day Tour: Morning tour to Ruma National Park, afternoon tour to Kanjera Archaeological Site and Homa Hills Hot Springs. Dinner and accommodation at 3-star hotel in Homabay.

Day 3: Breakfast at Hotel. Morning visit to Lake Victoria Islands. The islands to visit using Water Bus are Wakula, Nyakwere, Yokia, Takawiri, Ringiti, Mulungu and Mfangano Islands. Dinner and accommodation at 3-star hotel in Mfangano Island.

Day 4: Breakfast at Hotel. Board Water Bus at Mfangano Island back to Mbita in Homabay.
